If you haven't returned a jumper please bring on Sunday.

You will also have the opportunity to discuss football and club matters with our president, committee and coaches.

2. Youth Finals - North Hobart Junior Football Club results from 23 August 2009

U13’s: Preliminary Final, NH 3.5-23 def by Lauderdale 5.5-35
Goal Kickers: J. Doran, B. Parker, E. Bocchino
Best Players: T. Farmer, B. Parker, J. Doran, M. Doran, J. Fair, J. McCullum-Ring

U14’s: Grand Final, NH 6.1-37 def by Hobart 7.9-51
Goal Kickers: H. Robertson 4, J. Lulitanond 2
Best Players: H. Robertson, M. Lovell, S. Duigan, Z. Coppleman, Z. Locke, C. Wittison

The U13’s started slowly against Lauderdale but came home well to outscore them in the second half. The team has gained important finals experience and can build on this for next year.

The U14’s put in an outstanding effort, pushing Hobart to the final siren. After leading at half-time they fought hard in the second half but couldn’t convert some promising forward moves into scores on the board. They finished the game full of running and never gave up.

This was a very successful year for the club with all youth teams participating in the finals. Two teams reaching preliminary finals and the other in a grand final is our best overall effort for many years.

Junior and Youth development focuses on structured transitions through the various age groups encompassing specific objectives for each grouping. For instance, U8's to play in clusters with small team size and modified rules. U12's to be introduced to full tackle rules and continued emphasis of player rotation. Two tier competitions for U14's and U15's where teams numbers are 10 or more. More details to be posted when document is finalised.

4. A reminder to all parents and players - jumpers still outstanding must be returned before 30 September 2008 (this is not optional). Contact your coach, team manager or Peter Fisher 0417 376 715 or email info@demons.asn.au to arrange for the return of the jumper. If you haven't returned the jumper by this date then you will be invoiced for the full replacement cost of the jumper including a handling fee.

5. The annual Quiz night is scheduled for 4th October 2008 at 7.00-7.30 pm at New Town Senior Citizens Club. Entry $15 with a light supper provided and alcoholic/non-alcoholic refreshments available for purchase. For enquiries contact Peter Fisher 0417 376 715.

6. Sponsorship sought for junior footy. Wide range of options open to put something tangible into junior footy. You can help us get kids interested in playing while at the same time promoting a healthier life for them and the opportunity of lots of fun and personal achievement. Playing footy costs money and the Club actively promotes participation but to do this we need to keep fees as low as possible so kids can afford to play and also provide enough equipment to develop their skills and maximise the enjoyment of playing. Furthermore, there are lots of other expenses we have to meet each year, such as ground hire, league fees and insurance. For the NHJFC to continue into the future as a viable club and provide football services to the community we need your help.

7. Merchandise is still available and Tracy Cowie can assist via info@demons.asn.au. Don't wait for prices to rise next year. Get in now.

8. Thank you to all coaches, team managers, trainers, time keepers, goal umpires, fundraisers, kiosk operators and all supporters from the NHJFC Committee for making season 2008 a very successful year. We hope for a big contibution again next year. Keep posted to this site for upcoming events and news.

The NHJFC has again been asked to assist the NHFC in delivering services at North Hobart Oval during the finals series. 1. Former North Hobart Junior Football Club and North Hobart Football club player Colin Garland has been named AFL Round 14 Nomination AFL RISING STAR AWARD. Garland, 20 years, was named in the 2006 AFL draft at number 46 after having playing senior football for North Hobart in 2006 and junior football in 2002 and 2003.

News Posted 1/7/08

1. The Club's annual kick-a-thon is underway and the Committee appreciates the efforts of parents, players and friends in contributing to this very important Club fundraiser. We'd like all donations back by 13 July.

2. Our annual Quiz night is on soon (tentatively next month but we'll keep you posted) and we welcome all teams to participate. Plenty of fun and prizes on offer. No question about having a good time. Refreshments are available at reasonable prices.

3. The U8's have now got their new jumpers and are the final team to be outfitted in a transition to new jumpers started in 2003.

4. With wetter weather around and predicted this month, training and matches may be cancelled due to ground closures - check with your coach or team manager if in doubt and make sure they have a ready contact for you (preferable email) in case such matters arise.

5. There are 4 roster matches remaining while some teams will play finals and as part of the end-of-year preparations would all players and parents remember to return their NHJFC jumpers after they have played their final game. These jumpers are expensive to replace and are only on loan during the football season and must be returned at the end of the season. The Club will invoice those who fail to return jumpers.

6. A reminder that all players, parents and spectators are required to respect the 'rules of the game' and the Committee and League will not tolerate any actions that contravene these or bring the game into disrepute. This means that umpire's decisions are final whether you agree with them or not; club officials are in control of teams and will make all decisions (within rules) on game play and related matters; rules regarding players and officials clothing must be adhered to; and boundary exclusion rules must be complied with (all except nominated officials are to stay behind the boundary line or fence).

7. Our kiosks still require helpers, mums and dads, particularly at New Town Oval - all help contributes to the success of the Club and ultimately supports your children to play football.

8. Finally, the Club has taken out a big spread in this year's NHFC Yearbook. I recommend you get a copy when published and check it out. The NHFC generally provides copies for all players and these are presented at our end of year celebrations.

News Posted 7/5/08

3. U8's are flying with 36 participants getting the drills, spills and thrills of footy.

4. Our kiosk at John Turnbull Oval is going really well and has added healthier food to it's menu. We still need volunteers on match days and welcome your enquiries to Peter Fisher on 0417 376 715 or introduce yourself to the coach or team manager about helping out. The kiosk is open on Wednesday night at training for merchandise sales and collections, new registrations and for paying fees.

Colin Garland - former NHJFC player now with Melbourne FC

We have just heard from Elite Sports Properties that the Club will receive $1,000 from NAB for Colin Garland having kicked a super-goal in 2008 NAB Cup.

The NAB Super goal program ($1,000 for each 9-point 'super goal' scored) has helped grassroots clubs across the country purchase vital equipment such as uniforms, training and medical supplies.

There is a possibility of a visit from Colin, if available, to present the cheque. The Club indicated that the money would be appropriate for jumpers or medical supplies.

Footy gear donated to good cause and bound for France

On Thursday 20 March the North Hobart Football Club donated football equipment to Mrs Mulcahy and Ms Alison Ritchie and the boys from New Town High School and MacKillop College who are going to visit New Town Primary's Twin School in Villers-Bretonneux; Ecole Victoria where they will present the footy gear and in 50 years time Paris will be in the AFL as today we sow the seed!

The partnership is based on a common history involving former students who fought valiantly for the liberation of this village in WW1. New Town students have been corresponding with Ecole-Victoria (named after the state of Victoria who funded the rebuilding of the school) since November 2004. In 2006, the French Ambassador, Monsieur Descoueyte, visited New Town Primary School to oversee the signing of official partnership documents and commented that it would be great for the young students at Ecole-Victoria to learn about Aussie Rules.
