A brief description of the project
During the summer of 2006/2007, North Hobart Junior Football Club and Hobart District Little Athletics Centre were together very busy completing the new storeroom / kiosk facility at John Turnbull Oval. These new facilities were opened on Saturday 14 July 2007 by the JTO Project Manager, Shane Bowden of NHJFC assisted by Graeme Sturges MHA and
the Lord Mayor Rob Valentine, in front of a good crowd comprising committees of both clubs, their members, guests as well as many of our young footballers and athletes.
A view of the kiosk is shown below our sponsors.
Both clubs will share the kiosk while each has gained a separate, purpose designed equipment storeroom.
By the end of the footy season it was evident that the new kiosk had already provided a tremendous boost for hard working club volunteers and had also delivered a significant boost to club revenues.
I'm happy to report that this pattern is reported to have carried over to the start of the HDLAC season - so it looks like the hard work of both clubs is paying off already - and their financial positions and future in the local community looks very bright indeed.
This project was funded by equal contributions made by both clubs together with a $10,000 grant made available by Sport and Recreation Tasmania through the Tasmanian Government's Community Support Levy.
